IRC Poker SoftwareFor a time, I was trying to sharpen my poker skills by playing IRC poker using the 'bots developed by Todd Mummert which run on the server vegas.scandal.cs.cmu.edu. See Info on poker 'bots. This is a great resource for poker players because you can play at work any time you have a few minutes to spare. However, I found the action hard to follow because all information is sent as text messages. So, the idea to write a graphical front-end was born. Holdem: A Text-based InterfaceHoldem is a curses-based front-end for IRC Hold-em poker games. It provides a visual front-end interface for playing Texas and Omaha Hold-em poker over IRC using a dealer bot. This program still maintains the IRC client side interface where users write to each other by typing lines of input. The user still specifies game actions with messages to the dealer bot (often using special aliases).
XPoker: A Graphic InterfaceXpoker is an X11-based front-end for IRC poker games. It provides a visual front-end interface for playing most of the poker games over IRC using a dealer bot. This program still maintains the IRC client side interface where users write to each other by typing lines of input. The user still specifies game actions with messages to the dealer bot (often using special aliases).Todd's IRC poker server is gone and these programs haven't been maintained in years. I am releasing them as free software in case someone else wants to get the IRC poker system working again. If you do get an IRC system up again, please let me know so that I can link to it here. |
